Stars came out for the 2009 ‘Think Pink Rocks’
The 2nd Annual Think Pink Rocks, a charity concert to benefit breast cancer research and awareness, was a hit last night, October 3, at the Mizner Park in Boca Raton. The event had raised $50,000 before the end of the night according to BET’s 106 n Park host, Rocsi. According to WPTV Channel 5, in total “four thousand tickets were sold.”
Celebrities among the benefit included Akon, Melanie Fiona, DJ Webstar, Shontelle, American Yard, DJ Cassidy, and daughters of Nat King Cole, Timolin and Casey Cole. The mayor of Boca Raton, Susan Welchel also took time to show her support.
Aside from the musical performances of the previous top artists mentioned, other activities revealed the World’s Largest Cupcake created by Passion 4 Pastry (which was confirmed to be a shocking 1, 467 lbs. by the Guinness Book of World Records) and the presentation of Sissy, the pink Pekingese puppy.
The founder of “Think Pink Rocks”, Stephanie Robin was diagnosed with Stage II breast cancer in 2004 and has had a 90 percent decrease since. Robin teamed up with the president of SRC Records, Steve Rifkand who then provided the musical talent.
All proceeds from the event will benefit the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, BRCH Women’s Center for Breast Care, The American Cancer Society/Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, Reach Global/Jacob International, The Florida Breast Cancer Coalition, The H.O.P.E. Project, and University of Miami Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.
